Special Remote Presentation
Through special arrangements, CDPUG has secured a live remote presentation from sustainability expert Wendy Jedlicka. She will be available to take questions throughout the course of the meeting, and immediately afterward in the Q&A session.

Just months after a campaign targeting its practices, the world’s largest toy maker, as well as several other huge firms, announced they would stop sourcing paper and packaging from a company known to be a major contributor to ongoing rainforest destruction and habitat loss. Why did these companies find themselves in this situation?

From tiny one person shops, to huge firms, companies are increasingly demanding their designers play an active, and deeper, roll in brand health. How do your decisions impact your clients’ or company’s brand? In this talk we’ll look at personal motivations, systems thinking, and case studies to help designers (and their clients) make smart, forward-thinking decisions.

Speaker Bio:
Wendy Jedlicka, CPP is president of Jedlicka Design Ltd. (jedlicka.com) a packaging and graphic design firm specializing in sustainable design and business strategies. In addition, she is co-coordinator for the o2 International Network for Sustainable Design in the US (o2.org), and is packaging and business faculty for Minneapolis College of Art and Design’s ground breaking Sustainable Design Program (mcad.edu/sustainable). An internationally recognized speaker, Jedlicka is a contributing editor for AIGA’s “LivingPrinciples.org,” and was contributing editor of two books — “Packaging Sustainability: Tools, Systems and Strategies for Innovative Package Design,” and, “Sustainable Graphic Design: Tools, Systems and Strategies for Innovative Print Design.” (PackagingSustainability.info).
